Festival Night 2011 Gallery

A full house enjoyed our regular Ladies Night held at The Dormy House Hotel, Broadway on Saturday 5th March 2011.

Following a most enjoyable meal the Master Proposed the Loyal Toast.

Afterwards W Bro Tony King proposed the Toast to the Ladies by way of an amusing recall of some of his exploits in pursuit of life’s experiences. The gentlemen then joined him in taking a toast to our Ladies.

The Elmley Choir then sang the ladies song accompanied by W Bro Bob Major on piano.

Gil responded to the toast in verse  ”it’s only one night a month” much to the amusement of all present, particularly the Ladies.

She thanked everyone for their support tonight and the ladies in particular for their support throughout the year with the social gatherings on lodge nights.  She thanked Tony for proposing the Toast and the Choir for the ladies song. She then invited the Ladies to open their gifts.

W Bro Derek Blake then announced that Gil had chosen “Winston’s Wish” as the worthy recipient  of the proceeds of tonight’s Charitable Appeal. He said that Gil had experience of the excellent work carried out by  Winston’s Wish and he therefore hoped that we would be generous when the collection was taken.

The WM later announced that the collection on behalf of Gil’s nominated Charity had raised £975 which was quickly made up to £1,000-

Mike and Gil then left the room to warm applause marking the end of the formal part of the evening.

On their return we were entertained by two magicians  first by the man from Blackpool, Martin Scotprice who also entertained around the tables during the meal. Then by Ray Davenport.  A splendid cabaret to round off a splendid evening.

The rest of the evening was spent dancing to RDD  (Resident Dormy Disco).  We believe that Len (Andrew) Goodman was on the lookout for talent for Strictly Come Dancing, but we are not aware that anyone was signed up. If you know different please send a comment and pictures if you have any.

Enjoy the pictures

I must say that this was an absolutely splendid evening. As a joining member to Elmley Castle, it was an opportunity to entertain some of the brethren and their partners from my mother Lodge, Clerestory, which meets at Mark Mason’s Hall in London. It was a particularly wonderful introduction to all that’s good with Freemasonry for our newest entered apprentice, Bro. Carl Jani, who was made welcome by everyone he met. And I know that W Bro. John Huxley, our WM, enjoyed every minute of his visit! What a fitting conclusion the evening was to W Bro Mike’s year in office! Thank you to all of the team who worked very hard to make this such a successful occaison.
