Elmley Castles regular Lodge Meeting on February 16th took a slightly different format to the normal business and elections etc .
The Master W Bro Mike Dykes invited W Bro Barry Simpson along to do a presentation entitled “The Working Tools of Forensic Archaeology”.
W Bro Barry commenced his presentation by laying out the tools used in his employment as a forensic Archaeologist which, perhaps not surprisingly, were near to being a representation of the working tools of each of the three degrees of Craft Masonry.
His talk and the slides used to illustrate it, held every one’s attention throughout the whole presentation.
Seeing television news items in our living rooms often fails to bring home the suffering and punishments to which some are often subjected. Barry’s presentation reminds us that mankind still has a long way to travel before we can say “all is well in the world”
After this short but enlightening presentation the WM thanked W Bro Barry, the brethren showed their appreciation by polite warm applause.
At the festive board following the meeting the Master addressed the brethren saying his year had passed quickly but that he had enjoyed it immensely. He thanked everyone for the help he had received commenting that his requests for assistance had never been meet with a refusal. He congratulated the Master Elect, Bro David Broadbent, saying David need have no fears about the coming year as he was sure that the help afforded him will readily be available to David.
The Master made reference to the gatherings and dinners our ladies have enjoyed throughout the year whilst we were at Lodge. He said that 17 wives/partners were out with Gill this evening.

What an interesting talk, Barry must have a very difficult/rewarding job trying to solve the various problems left by others. After the talk I think I will go and look at the grass at the bottom of the garden!!.
